Older adults using electronic devices while driving
While we know that older adults are using electronic devices (e.g. phones, radio) while driving, the extent of that use is understudied. For this paper, we looked at 100 participants who completed the Electronic Drive Survey. We found that 56% of older adults used a cellular device while driving, 39% used GPS, and 3% reported texting while driving. Looking at the known risks of device usage while driving, we saw in this report that just like younger adults, some older adults are using potentially distracting electronic devices while driving.
